"November 2011, I made a decision to make major changes in my life. I underwent weight loss surgery. I knew after this surgery that I would need to work on making myself a healthier person which would have to start with exercise. The weight was not going to come off by itself. Sylvia I have been overweight my entire adult life. I have dabbled in exercise for the past 20 years and was never was successful. I met Tina Johnson in 2010 when I committed to myself to exercise. I wanted to change my own mind about exercise being boring and a waste of time and make it fun. It started with group exercise and eventually personal training.
Through her encouragement, knowledge of exercise, and pushing me, I reached goals I never thought I could. My favorite line was always I can’t or I don’t want to but she quickly erased those words from my vocabulary. She knows how to challenge you in a good way to make you do things you never thought possible. I have never been a runner, never even crossed my mind I wanted to run but I sent a goal for myself, I wanted to run a half marathon before I turned 40. Tina made a running plan for me. I stuck to it (for the most part) and I’m proud to say I ran in the Hooters half marathon in 2013 at the age of 39 in 2 hrs and 29 minutes. I also have participated in the Super Spartan and Tough Mudder (runs/obstacle courses) in 2012 and 2013. This has been a journey I wish now I did years ago. I feel better, I sleep better and I can go bathing suit shopping without crying.
